Tansiarda is a predominantly dwarven settlement located just south of the confluence of the Serpent and Onman rivers. The town has gradually grown up around the ambitious construction project taking place here – bridging the Serpent River with a massive arch. On the eastern bank, where Tansiarda itself is located, the Old Theran Road leads north to Parlainth and south to Lake Ban; on the western bank, a well-traveled caravan route follows the Serpent to the Cliff City of Lalai Gorge, joining an ancient pilgrimage route that heads south to the sacred mountain of Ayodhya. Connecting these two roads will surely be an extremely profitable enterprise, if it can be accomplished. The t’skrang of House Syrtis, however, are most annoyed that the towers of an abandoned t’skrang village are being used as pilings for the bridge.
In addition to the dwarven engineers and magicians overseeing the project, the town contains sizable numbers of ork, troll, and human laborers. Other races dwell here in small numbers, and many travelers to and from Parlainth pass through Tansiarda as well. The town’s single inn, the Arch Barrel, is well-maintained but often overcrowded, and its owner, a human named Elwyn, is thinking about expanding it.
